How to get the perfect shave

Hydrate Hair
- Dont forget to hydrate the hair - that's dry is harder to cut because you need more of a cutting force in order for the blade to slice through the hair

Don't Dry Shave
2. Yes, you can dry shave with our razor — but for best results, use it on damp or wet skin. Dry shaving creates more friction, which can strip away the top layer of your skin (the stratum corneum), not just the hair.

Avoid Dull Blades
3. Avoid dull blades — especially from 5-blade razors. They tug on hair, irritate skin, and can lead to razor burn by pulling on deeper layers like collagen and nerves.

Avoid multiple passes
4. Avoid multiple passes — once the hair is gone, repeated shaving just removes layers of your stratum corneum, the skin’s protective barrier.

Don’t ignore the grain
5. Don’t ignore the grain — shaving with the grain (hair growth direction) reduces irritation, while shaving against it gives a closer shave but can cause razor burn. If you have sensitive skin or ingrowns, stick to shaving with the grain.

Shave Gently
6. Don’t apply too much pressure — pressing too hard while shaving can lead to cuts, nicks, and irritation, increasing the risk of infection, scarring, or hyperpigmentation. Use light, gentle strokes — like you’re shaving a balloon without popping it.

Don’t Skip Exfoliation
7. Exfoliating helps remove surface skin cells that can trap hair and lead to ingrown hairs. By clearing these dead cells, you free the hair and make it easier to shave. Since shaving is already a form of exfoliation, doing both at once can irritate sensitive skin. If that’s you, exfoliate two days before or after shaving. Chemical exfoliants like AHAs or BHAs are gentler than scrubs and a great option.

Don’t Over-Stretch Your Skin
8. Stretching your skin too much while shaving can cause the hair to recoil when released, increasing the risk of ingrown hairs. Instead, shave gently and let the skin stay relaxed.

Don’t Forget to Moisturize
9. Shaving removes surface skin cells that help lock in moisture, which can lead to dryness, itching, and water loss. Always follow up with a hydrating moisturizer — or use our After Shave Oil Treatment to soothe, hydrate, and lock in moisture. For extra relief, you can also layer an ointment like Vaseline or Aquaphor on top.

Don’t Forget to Rinse Your Blade
Hair, skin cells, and debris can clog your razor while shaving. Rinse the blade frequently to keep it clean, sharp, and cutting effectively.
